How to Install Alight Motion Presets

Installing a preset in Alight Motion takes less than a minute once you know the two methods. This guide covers importing with an AM link and with an XML file, where your preset ends up, and how to fix the errors that block most people.

What you need

You only need the Alight Motion app and a preset from this site. Every preset page has an AM link and, in most cases, a downloadable XML file.

If a preset has audio, download the audio file separately and add it to your project after importing the preset.

Method 1 — Import with an AM link

An AM link is the fastest option. It opens Alight Motion directly and loads the preset for you, so there is nothing to download or unzip.

Method 2 — Import an XML preset

XML presets are self-contained files. Use this method when an AM link is unavailable or when you want to keep the preset saved on your device.

Where your preset goes

After importing, the preset usually appears as a new project or as layers you can copy into your composition. XML imports often land in a separate project that you copy from, while AM links load straight into the current one.

Fixing common import errors

Most import failures come down to a handful of causes. Work through these before giving up on a preset.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need the paid version of Alight Motion to use presets?
No. Free presets can be imported and used on the free version of Alight Motion. Some exports may carry a watermark unless you remove it in-app.
Why does my AM link not work?
AM links can expire or require the app to be installed first. Open Alight Motion once, then paste the link inside the app instead of tapping it from the browser.
